On my vacation in Maui, I had the perfect opportunity to shadow a friend of mine Mike who happens to be a professional photographer. He had me assist him on the the busiest wedding day of the year 07/07/2007. Originally he had three weddings booked that day, but he did eventually narrow it down to two weddings.
The first wedding started at 10am. This place in Maui that we went to you had to line up and wait your turn for your wedding. On this small spot, which was just amazing, they had four weddings going on at the same time. Since it was extremely crowded, we had a spot that we had to stay in and could not venture out of. Every Bride and Groom each only had an hour to get their ceremony and pictures done. As a photographer, or one assisting, I felt so rushed. Our couples ceremony was beautiful and afterwards Mike and I used the remaining hour to get all the pictures done. The couple was very nice and cute. Due to the fact that we only had an hour I don't feel like we connected as much as I would have liked. Overall it was a great hour but it just went by way to quick.
The pictures, due to the place being amazing, turned out great. But since the connection lacked the pictures could have been better. Once the couple started to get comfortable and relax in front of the camera the hour was already up. It was a great experience, I learned how it is to be under pressure and having to get the pictures we needed done.
